The Only Enterprise IT Event in 2011
Covering the Entire Scope of the
Cloud Computing Spectrum |
| |
Cloud computing is steadily becoming an integral
part of the enterprise computing environment. |
|

Cloud Expo was announced on February 24, 2007, the day the term "cloud computing" was coined. That same year, the first Cloud Expo took place in New York City with 450 delegates. This coming June 6-9, 2011, Cloud Expo is returning to New York with more than 7,000 delegates and over 200 sponsors and exhibitors.
"Cloud" has become synonymous with "computing" and "software" in two short years. Cloud Expo is the new PC Expo, Comdex, and InternetWorld of our decade. By 2012, more than 50,000 delegates per year will participate in Cloud Expo worldwide.
The cloud is certainly a compelling alternative to running all applications within a traditional corporate data center. But moving from theory into practice is where things get complicated, and this is where attending a top industry event like Cloud Expo comes in.
No one can take full advantage of cloud computing without first becoming familiar with the latest issues and trends, which is why the organizing principle of the 8th International Cloud Expo June 6-9, 2011, is to ensure - through an intensive four-day schedule of keynotes, general and breakout sessions, and our bustling Expo Floor - that attending delegates leave with abundant resources, ideas and examples they can apply immediately to leveraging the Cloud, helping them to maximize performance, minimize cost and improve the scalability of their Enterprise IT endeavors.
Delegates will leave 8th Cloud Expo with dramatically increased understanding of the entire scope of the cloud computing spectrum, from storage to security.
| Whether you're an enterprise or small to medium business, you'll soon be benefiting from the Cloud. Join your peers in New York City in June 2011, and maximize those benefits already before 2012 kicks in. See you in New York! |

Feb. 22, 2011 03:26 PM EST Reads: 233 | By Mark Jamensky They say you can’t predict the weather. Like so many clichés, however, this one isn’t quite true. Meteorologists have a host of tools at their fingertips that help them recognize, track and analyze weather patterns in order to support predictions that are often accurate, or at least reasonably close. The same is true in the computing industry, where patterns emerge in data centers and enterprises much as cloud formations become apparent in the skies. With a careful eye and extensive knowledge informed by years of experience and frequent conversations with frontline IT professionals, we can predict future trends with a relatively high degree of accuracy. The beginning of a new decade is an opportune moment in which to forecast where virtualization – the primary IT initiative of our time – will encounter stormy weather and where it might be welcomed by clear skies. The capabilities described in each of those stages provide an essential foundation for a dynamic datacenter, which is an IT environment that not only supports the business but, at times, is part of the product delivered by the business. It is an agile IT environment, built on top of an optimized and automated virtual infrastructure, that is:
Service oriented: Delivering on-demand, standardized services to the business (internal customers, partners, etc).
Scalable: With the ability to span heterogeneous physical, virtual and cloud environments.
Secure: Providing security as a service to internal / external customers. Reads: 21,389 By Fuat Kircaali I can't comprehend that any event producer anywhere in the world today would answer this question by picking any one of the five available options presented. "A leading tool?" What do you mean by "a leading tool?" What other tools would you possibly have in this day and age? This question, the survey itself and its participants belong to the last decade.
I personally don't use email anymore; I communicate through "Twitter."
We don't do press releases unless we have to; we tweet stories to our roughly 12,000 followers in 8 channels. The news gets amplified to hundreds of thousands instantly.
Even during Cloud Expo, we reach more people by Twitter than the announcements we make through loudspeakers in the convention centers.
I would love to contact the people who are conducting this survey and ask them if any company answered their first question as "don't really consider it."
In an age where I personally hail a cab at an airport through Twitter, I can't possibly comprehend which century bubble those people might be living in. Reads: 7,446 Further cementing its position as The Largest Cloud Computing Event in the World, the organizers of the 7th Cloud Expo, being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA, announced today that the event will also feature – on November 2nd, 2010 – a CloudCamp unconference.
CloudCamp @ Cloud Expo is aimed at anyone working with, or interested in working with, cloud technologies.
"With the rapid change occurring in the industry, we need a place where we can meet to share our experiences, challenges and solutions," said CloudCamp co-founder Dave Nielsen, who will personally be facilitating the process on site at the Jacob Javits. "At CloudCamp," Nielsen continued, "participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts in several open discussions, as we strive for the advancement of Cloud Computing." By Kevin Hartig Cloud computing is becoming one of the next industry buzz words. It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc.
Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. But Cloud computing has become the new buzz word driven largely by marketing and service offerings from big corporate players like Google, IBM and Amazon. The World's Most Influential Blogs By Don MacVittie There are many instances in the world where third-party verification of thoughts and ideas are just a useful thing to have. Cases where the vested interest of one party makes their opinion suspect, even if it is unbiased. For those cases we have a whole collection of organizations and corporations that will research and verify, test and certify, validate and verify, whatever, depending upon the issue and the needs of the target audience. A good example of this that I know of for the obvious reas... Risk is not a synonym for lack of security. Neither is managing risk a euphemism for information security. Risk – especially operational risk – compromises a lot more than just security.
In operational terms, the chance of loss is not just about data/information, but of availability. Of performance. Of customer perception. Of criti... The joke then was – if you are 27 years old and not a millionaire, then you are a failure. All you needed was a sign-board saying “new internet company” and stand on Sand Hill Road. Several cars will stop and within hours, you should have a check worth millions as investment.
This is an exaggeration of course. Jeff Bezos of Amazon even said – we spell profit as “prophet”. Then the bubble burst one...
