Every Hosting Provider is building its own cloud storage solutions. The
situation is either build it or lose business to whoever has it, such as
Amazon S3, Rackspace Cloud Files or Windows Azure Blob Storage.
Now the question is how to build it fast and take it to market soon. In this
sense, OpenStack Object Storage is very attractive. First it is open source.
Second, it is based on Rackspace Cloud Files so it has big commercial
companies supporting the initiative.

If you've been following Sybase's announcements concerning their plans for
future versions of PowerBuilder, you'll know that they are planning for
PowerBuilder 15 to be able to generate a Silverlight application and are
looking at having it generate applications based on HTML5 as well. If you've
been following this column, you'll know I've been arguing that we need
Silverlight generation much sooner than that.

The role of the designer at Apple and Microsoft has been a hot topic in the
news recently.
First came a long interview with former Apple CEO John Sculley, who discussed
the role of the designer at Apple and contrasted it favorably with
Microsoft's approach.
Then came news that Microsoft's Chief Software Architect Ray Ozzie was
resigning, apparently because his role as designer-in-chief was marginalized
in Redmond. Add to that the telling detail that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer
said he will not replace Ray Ozzie.

We don't do press releases unless we have to; we tweet stories to our roughly 12,000 followers in 8 channels. The news gets amplified to hundreds of thousands instantly.
Even during Cloud Expo, we reach more people by Twitter than the announcements we make through loudspeakers in the convention centers.
I would love to contact the people who are conducting this survey and ask them if any company answered their first question as "don't really consider it."

Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come.
