HTML5 introduces Application Cache, a new feature that enables you to make
web apps and sites available offline. The new specification also provides an
easy way to prefetch some or all of your web app's assets (HTML files,
images, CSS, JavaScript, and so on) while the client is still online. During
this caching process, files are stored in an application cache, where they
sit ready for future offline use.
Compare this to regular browser caching, in which pages that you visit are
cached in the browser's cache based on server-side rules and client-side

Last year I wrote up seven tech predictions for the 2010 year. I’m happy to say that it looks like I went five for seven (71.4% for those keeping track at home). Somewhat content to rest on my laurels, I thought we’d go over last years predictions (before we ramp up to this years).

Enterprises need to consider a multi step approach in their migration to private Clouds. While the Virtualized infrastructure and service enablement are parts of it which can be done with the support of tools, enabling multi tenancy and shared services is the key to the realization of benefits of Cloud. Business Rules Engines will be one integral part of such an approach. This article analyzes the business rules value proposition for private cloud adoption.
On this continuing series, I am examining thoughts and specific implementation details around building a back-testing platform for algo trading. Eventually, we’ll see where complex event processing plays and how to implement it. Rather than looking at various database solutions first and then trying to define the problem in terms of those solutions, let’s first examine what market data looks like. 
The primary business benefit of Cloud computing is that it can enable organizations to achieve a ‘Level 5′ BPM maturity.
BPM stands for Business Process Management, and how effectively an organization has mastered this science can be quantified on a maturity scale, ranging from 1-5.

If you ask someone to describe the kinds of animals that are in the ocean they probably think of odd invertebrates like jellyfish and octopuses and of course the colorful, strange looking fish. They might also mention the corals or in particular the coral reefs – those long stretches of undersea “gardens” in which an exotic array of animals (or are they plants?) make their homes. 
Over a year ago, I posed a simple question in a post: ‘Should developers care about cloud computing?’ In the post, I went on to assert that developers should indeed care about what was at that point a little more of an emerging trend. Not that this was ever a controversial issue, but in light of the growing momentum of cloud since that post, and the realization that the effects of cloud reverberate throughout entire IT organizations, this is no longer even a question.
