| Make Virtualization Work for Your Business in 2011 and Beyond |
| |
Join us in New York, NY, and ensure your IT division obtains
virtualization's promise of cost reduction and efficiency gains |
|

Virtualization cuts across just about all that you might find in the today's data center: to one degree or another, clients, servers, applications, storage systems, data networks, and security can all now be virtualized.
By compressing multiple workloads onto a single physical server, Virtualization enables data centers to save tremendous amounts of money on hardware, power, cooling and floor space.
For small and midsized enterprises, Virtualization can also help data centers tap into levels of fault tolerance previously enjoyed only by huge organizations.
And chief executives are discovering that Virtualization has the potential not only to improve the balance sheet, but also to strengthen competitive advantage and put a shine on the corporate brand.
Designing and managing IT environments independently from physical limitations is what Virtualization is all about, and it is a fast-changing technology, which is why the 9th International Virtualization Conference & Expo in Spring 2011 - the most regularly held and longest-running 100% Virtualization focused event in the world is dedicated to bringing clarity about its role and importance to all attending delegates.
Managers will leave Virtualization Expo with a full understanding of the interaction between virtual servers and the rest of the data center infrastructure. Indeed our overall aim is to ensure through an intensive three-day schedule of keynotes, general and breakout sessions, and not least our bustling Expo Floor that all attending delegates leave the Santa Clara Convention Center with abundant resources, ideas and examples they can apply immediately to leveraging Virtualization in their own corporate datacenter, on the desktop, and elsewhere.

Virtualization Articles & Feature Stories By Maureen O'Gara How in the world could we have missed this little gem?
Back on October 19 the New York Post ran a little-noticed piece, presumably placed by HP, saying that before the reluctant Jodie, the one-time Playboy model and hired HP party greeter, ex-HP CEO Mark Hurd had a “consensual” fling with an unidentified Sun sales VP, when there was still a Sun and when HP and Sun were competitors.
Both were married.
The story anticipates the Wall Street Journal’s great revelation last Friday that Hurd all... Nov. 14, 2010 02:00 PM EST | By Maureen O'Gara Remember 3PAR and the $2.35 billion it ultimately fetched from HP over Dell?
Well, apparently Frank Quattrone’s ability to tease hysterically high prices from otherwise sensible people for properties that don’t seem worth that kind of money hasn’t worked with New England-sensible EMC.

"The world's 50 most influential Cloud bloggers 2010" list will be announced at the Cloud Expo 2010 East, which will take place April 19-21, 2010, at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center, in New York City, with more than 5,000 expected to attend. Reads: 18,971 By Fuat Kircaali I can't comprehend that any event producer anywhere in the world today would answer this question by picking any one of the five available options presented. "A leading tool?" What do you mean by "a leading tool?" What other tools would you possibly have in this day and age? This question, the survey itself and its participants belong to the last decade.
I personally don't use email anymore; I communicate through "Twitter."
We don't do press releases unless we have to; we tweet stories to our roughly 12,000 followers in 8 channels. The news gets amplified to hundreds of thousands instantly.
Even during Cloud Expo, we reach more people by Twitter than the announcements we make through loudspeakers in the convention centers.
I would love to contact the people who are conducting this survey and ask them if any company answered their first question as "don't really consider it."
In an age where I personally hail a cab at an airport through Twitter, I can't possibly comprehend which century bubble those people might be living in. Reads: 6,147 Further cementing its position as The Largest Cloud Computing Event in the World, the organizers of the 7th Cloud Expo, being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA, announced today that the event will also feature – on November 2nd, 2010 – a CloudCamp unconference.
CloudCamp @ Cloud Expo is aimed at anyone working with, or interested in working with, cloud technologies.
"With the rapid change occurring in the industry, we need a place where we can meet to share our experiences, challenges and solutions," said CloudCamp co-founder Dave Nielsen, who will personally be facilitating the process on site at the Jacob Javits. "At CloudCamp," Nielsen continued, "participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts in several open discussions, as we strive for the advancement of Cloud Computing." By Kevin Hartig Cloud computing is becoming one of the next industry buzz words. It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc.
Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. But Cloud computing has become the new buzz word driven largely by marketing and service offerings from big corporate players like Google, IBM and Amazon. Virtualization Blogs Live By Dustin Amrhein Over the last two weeks, I have fully immersed myself in the world of cloud. Thanks to conference keynotes, breakout sessions, customer briefings, and ad hoc discussions, I have not had much time to not think or talk about cloud. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, I do have to admit, something has been gnawing at me over these past two weeks: There is too much overloaded, confusing, or misunderstood cloud jargon. Nov. 12, 2010 01:30 PM EST | By Lori MacVittie Back in the day (when they still let me write code) I was contracted to a global transportation firm where we had just completed the very first implementation of an Internet-enabled tracking system. We had five whole pilot customers and it was, to say the least, a somewhat fragile system. We were all just learning back then, after all, and if you think integration today is difficult and fraught with disaster, try adding in some CICS and some EDI-delivered data. Yeah – exactly. Nov. 11, 2010 09:45 AM EST | By Peter Silva If you missed the past three days, welcome to The Best Day to Blog Experiment; you are now a participant. If you are a returning reader, thanks for your participation and for the first time readers, I’ve come across many stories about when is the best day/time to get the most readership exposure from a blog post and I’m doing my own little brief, non-scientific experiment. The idea was to blog everyday this week, track the results and report back. Mahalo for becoming a statistic, and I mean that in the most gracious way. This is Day 4 of the experiment and so far Day 1 (Monday) got some go... Nov. 11, 2010 08:48 AM EST | By Reuven Cohen It's been a crazy week at Enomaly after last week’s SpotCloud announcement. Signups for both the buy and sell side for SpotCloud have been very strong with hundreds registering for the service. One of the more interesting statistics is the ratio of buyers to sellers is tracking at 5:1 for buyers. This shows there’s a lot of buy-side demand for the service. For those of you who have already registered, we are... Nov. 10, 2010 02:21 PM EST |
