Even though it now has its own private Exalogic Elastic Cloud, Oracle has finally certified production workloads of its E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise and Siebel CRM software, Fusion Middleware, Database and its Linux operating system on Amazon's EC2 public cloud - provided they're running on Oracle VMs.
Oracle still doesn't support Amazon's virtualization. The widgetry will be supported by Oracle and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Customers can use their existing Oracle licenses on EC2 at no additional cost, or acquire new licenses from Oracle.
AWS and Oracle will deliver Oracle software on Oracle VM with hard partitioning, and Oracle's standard partitioned processor licensing models apply.

Oracle Unbreakable Linux Support is available for Oracle Linux on EC2 as well.
AWS and Oracle will publish a set of pre-configured Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) based on Oracle VM templates that customers can use to cut implementation times. These AMIs will initially include Oracle Linux, Oracle Database 11gR2, E-Business Suite and Fusion Middleware technologies including WebLogic Server and Business Process Management. Future AMIs will include PeopleSoft Enterprise, Siebel CRM, and JD Edwards applications.
The AMIs will let users take advantage of Amazon's Elastic Load Balancing, Auto-Scaling, Security Groups, CloudWatch and Reserved Instance pricing.
