Skydera, a centralized platform to manage multiple cloud environments, announced the beta release on Wednesday. The Skydera management console provides a single intuitive interface to manage servers, deploy applications, control user access, track usage, and centralize billing. The platform is differentiated by equal support of all distinct features provided by Amazon, Rackspace, GoGrid, and Slicehost cloud environments, as well as the ability to manage internal hypervisor environments (private clouds). As part of the beta, Skydera is offering a special Skydera CloudStart program, where the first 100 SMBs to register on the bottom right at www.skydera.com will receive free unlimited access to the platform for three months.
The Skydera platform looks to address the needs of both enterprises and fast growth businesses with the following feature set:
- Pre-created server images and templates for all public and private cloud environments,
- Automatic scaling of compute, storage and network resources based on demand and rule sets,
- Unified billing reports, showing up-to-the-minute analytics of daily, weekly and monthly operating costs,
- Integrated analytics of performance and utilization with the ability to add custom names for managed assets,
- Support for both public and private virtual local area networks (VLANs), allowing enterprises to create their own virtual private cloud,
- Sophisticated user permissions and reporting that restricts cloud asset usage based on roles, supporting remote administration,
- Disaster discovery options with failover capability across any cloud environment,
- Automatic monitoring of Service Level Agreement violations,
- Both an SaaS and on premise installation model,
- Advanced services, including VPNs, virtual private clouds and data replication,
- Cost effective "pay-as-you-go" pricing for SMBs, and annual licensing contracts for Enterprise customers.

Mr. and Mrs. President Bashar al-Assad:
At the tender age of 17 months my severely ill daughter Sofia, an American citizen, was abducted by her mother on Monday, July 26, in Istanbul, Turkey, and taken to Syria.
I was informed yesterday by Sofia's mother that she will not be coming back to the United States nor will she allow Sofia to return home.
Sofia has been diagnosed with a severe medical condition that requires immediate treatment in the United States. It was scheduled to start on...
In the battle for marketing superiority virtual private servers and cloud servers are matched against each other in a battle to the death. But in reality this battle is only perceived because of the lack of definition in the marketplace. VPS and Cloud Servers may just as well be one in the same. It's portability that is key to success while vendor lock in is of high concern.
Today's IT organizations face a dual challenge of "keeping the lights on" while providing "new services" at unprecedented rates with reduced investment support from the business. At the same time, the very business model of IT is changing – how applications, content, information, and infrastructure are delivered.
One of the biggest barriers to business execution and innovation today is managing complexity. This barrier forces the largest IT investment spend to be focused on keeping lights on wh...
Generally, I believe standards are a good thing for both technology consumers and providers. For consumers, they act as a focusing lens for the kinds of capabilities they should be looking for from a particular implementation (regardless of the technology we are talking about). From a technology provider standpoint, you may often hear the rallying cry that standards impede innovation. By and large, this is a bogus argument. When formed at the right time, standards encourage innovation by normali...
The last couple of years have been painful, to say the least. Some call them unprecedented, financially, but I do believe that is pushing the descriptor a bit far, since there have been plenty of instances where business pretty much en-masse questioned the amount that IT returns for their investment and cut budgets, so the feel of this recession is not much different than what we’ve felt before, it’s just by necessity. The funny bit of this is that everyone seems to agree that IT spending still ...
Advances in Identity Management technologies will provide foundations for an "Identity Metasystem", providing the tools for securing information in a manner that greatly accelerates adoption of Cloud computing. Typically conversations about Cloud Computing quickly lead to the perceived big roadblock holding back its adoption, data privacy and security.
Ask yourself how you would feel about having sensitive information, like your bank account or credit card details, stored "in the Cloud"? Wha...
