As a diversion from its high-profile "who-knows-where-it-will-end" dogfight
with Gizmodo over an errant iPhone prototype, Apple has posted a longish open
letter on its web site over the signature of its CEO Steve Jobs reiterating
all the reasons why Apple has no use for Adobe's Flash technology.
Steve - or his ghost writer - says Adobe mischaracterizes the Apple ban when
it says it's business-driven and only meant to protect the Apple App Store.
He claims it's technology-driven.
"Flash," he says, "was created during the PC era - for PCs and mice. Flash is
a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push
it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low-power devices, touch
interfaces and open web standards - all areas where Flash falls short."
Flash, he ticks off, is closed and 100% proprietary; highly insecure; crashes

Cloud Computing on Ulitzer
One of the stumbling blocks toward a complete adoption of cloud computing is
certainly around ensuring the stability of the underlying network for it is
the enabling factor in all IT efforts.
We have a brittle system underpinning the data center: the network. It’s
brittle, yes. But it works. Thanks to years of tweaking and tuning and
troubleshooting, it works. We know where everything is, and how everything
interacts, and it works. It works well, in fact, now that we’ve got it all
figured out.

Today I am in Beijing, China at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) and am happy
to announce the latest Enomaly product offering, The ECP High Assurance

I have been a little bit stubborn on my concession that cloud computing is
really going to be the wave of the future. Though lately I have been playing
with a lot of cloud related technologies and am hooked. Spin up 10 (or 100)
Linux servers in a minute from a web page with no real systems management
skills and then you start seeing the power of cloud computing. As I try to
get smarter on cloud computing I compiled the following list of resources
that I have found helpful. If you have a great cloud resource please feel

As the Fifth International Cloud Expo continues this week in New York, global
developments with the cloud continue apace.
A new initiative in Thailand provides a good example, where SaaS and IaaS are
part of a Cloud Computing agenda being developed by the government's Software
Park Thailand and True IDC, a data center and hosting company. A software
development training program that's in the works here is slated to last nine
months and create a total of 20 cloud-bsaed solutions.
