The American Education Corporation Announces 2009 Revenue Gains and Positive Earnings Results for the Fiscal Year Ended December 31, 2009

The American Education Corporation (AEC) reports that net revenues for the year ending December 31, 2009, were $17,752,016, versus $13,043,596 for the prior fiscal year, or an increase of 36 percent. Operating income for the period increased by 85 percent from $822,315 to $1,525,386 for the fiscal year. Income before income tax increased by 90 percent to $1,487,865 from $782,812, while net income after tax increased by 63 percent to $835,597, providing for diluted earnings per share of $1.12 versus $0.68 per share reported for the prior year. For the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2009, net revenues increased by 59 percent to $4,200,385 from the prior year’s reported quarterly revenues of $2,647,273. This year's West Coast conference attracted 2,250 delegate, more than double a year ago. As far as the expo floor goes, out of 50 sponsors and exhibitors, 46 companies confirmed during the conference that they will participate in the 2010 Cloud Computing Expo at the same or higher level. At SYS-CON Media we see our inventories are filling up to 100% capacity for the months of November, December, and January, and we are seeing better-than-normal RFP activity for the first quarter of 2010.

The most anticipated talk of the day yesterday, at the 4th International Cloud Expo, was by the deputy CIO of the CIA, Jill Singer. Her talk was entitled, "Enterprise Cloud Computing, the Infrastructure’s Final Revenge." She acknowledged the problem with defining Cloud Computing, and then went on to give her paragraph-length definition of “the cloud”. Her talk focused on the part of the Cloud behind the firewall. “Today’s CIO must increase the flexibility of the infrastructure,” said Singer.

Having gone through a couple of decades worth of technology conferences, a familiar cycle occurs. Only after the technology has passed a couple of feasibility gates and begun to hit the business cycle do sales and marketing people take over. As of January 2010, we booked more revenue for 2010 than the entire fiscal year 2009 actuals, including unearned income with record sponsorship sales for Cloud Expo East, Cloud Expo West and Cloud Expo Europe events.
