SugarSync Inc., makers of the award-winning SugarSync digital synchronization, backup and sharing platform, today announced the beta of a new open API designed to enable third-party developers to extend and enhance the SugarSync platform while leveraging the company’s cloud infrastructure.
Developers can sign up for the Platform API beta, as well as the Android Cloud API announced last December, here. Details on the Platform API can be found here.
“SugarSync effectively bridges the cloud and all your devices, and makes your data available to you anytime,” said Domingo Mihovilovic, vice president of engineering at SugarSync. “We provide your data at your fingertips available and accessible from smartphones, tables, netbooks, laptops, and of course desktops and Web browsers. The SugarSync Platform API will enable developers to unlock the power of their user’s data and offer many new, creative capabilities. We’re excited to join with the developer community and enter into a new, open era for SugarSync.”
SugarSync is kicking off the new program with a contest called Candy for Coders. Developers can win a NexusOne smartphone, a six-month “Cookie of the Month” subscription, and more by submitting apps leveraging one of the SugarSync APIs. More information on the contest is available here.
