Today, uLocate Communications, Inc., North America’s leading publisher of location-based mobile services, announced that Craig Forman has been elected to uLocate’s Board of Directors. As an executive and entrepreneur, Forman has led both large and start-up companies at the intersection of media, technology and communications.
Forman is the Former EVP & President of Access and Audience at EarthLink Inc. During his nearly four year tenure at EarthLink, he was responsible for roughly $1 billion in revenue and $300 million in EBIDTA, and managed all aspects of the Consumer Business Unit's operations including product, sales and marketing, IT, infrastructure, customer service and operations.
“We are thrilled to have Craig join our board,” said Walt Doyle, CEO of uLocate. “His vast expertise in building internet and publishing companies will help accelerate the growth of our user base and enhance our position as an industry leading media company.”
uLocate achieved cash flow positive in August of 2009 and its leading consumer mobile application, WHERE®, is a top download on all major smartphones with a user base that is growing 100 percent quarter over quarter . With Forman joining the team, uLocate will have proven leaders in both consumer products and media at the helm of its strategy and thus be uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growing market opportunities in location-based services.
Before joining EarthLink, Forman served as head of media and information at Yahoo! Inc., responsible for such category-leading businesses as Yahoo! News, Finance and Sports. Prior to Yahoo!, Forman was CEO and co-founder of Success Television and MyPrimeTime Inc., a television production and venture-backed Internet company, and serves as non-executive chairman today. Earlier, Forman served as a senior operating executive at Time Warner’s CNN Group and Time Inc. divisions, and at The Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones. While at The Wall Street Journal, Forman was a member of the 1991 Persian Gulf War reporting team that was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. He also was a member of the management team that took early search-engine Infoseek public. Forman has a master’s degree in law from Yale and an undergraduate degree from Princeton.
"uLocate is leading in innovation and audience engagement when it comes to mobile location-based information, services and commerce," says Forman. "It is an exciting time to be part of this growing company and team."
