CEO Joe Tucci said for what must be the umpteenth time Tuesday that EMC has no intention of parting with its roughly 84% majority stake in virtualization leader VMware. The occasion was EMCâs first analyst day in a dogâs age. EMC has been under pretty constant market pressure since VMware IPOâd 20 months ago to divest its position on the theory that the two companies would be more valuable split up. Overall, very exciting times, and a great event put together by the folks at SYS-CON! There was a lot of excitement and optimism throughout the event. As someone put it: cloud computing is about 700 days old. That means that there are a lot of arguments about definitions, and where things are going, and so on. And that also gives a lot of vibe and a lot of fresh community spirit.
