If this isn't true, please correct me, but if it is, it sure wouldn't make me feel secure. Just think of all the types of single-machine failures that could result in data loss! What if the power supply goes bad and fries the electronics in all of the drives in the system simultaneously? What if a small fire roasts all th...

CEO Joe Tucci said for what must be the umpteenth time Tuesday that EMC has no intention of parting with its roughly 84% majority stake in virtualization leader VMware. The occasion was EMC’s first analyst day in a dog’s age. EMC has been under pretty constant market pressure since VMware IPO’d 20 months ago to divest its position on the theory that the two companies would be more valuable split up. Tucci, however, thinks "We will get more traction and more opportunities doing it the way we're doing it."

Conference News & Updates
In the brave new world of cloud computing, what is the secret to building great companies? That is the question that will be answered by Good Data Corp's CEO Roman Stanek in the Opening Keynote on May 18 at SYS-CON's upcoming 3rd International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo - being held in Prague, Czech Republic May 18-19, 2009.
The overall conference theme of Cloud Computing Conference & Expo Europe in Prague, Czech Republic, is "Deploying Cloud Computing in the Enterprise." Here we present a round-up of Themes & Topics that will be covered in the rich array of breakout sessions, General Sessions, and Power Panel dicussions at the 2-day event.
Now held three times a year, in New York, Prague, and Silicon Valley, the organizing principle of each International Virtualization Conference & Expo remains the same: our aim is to ensure, through an intense and carefully chosen program of technical and strategic breakout sessions, that attending delegates leave each Conference with abundant resources, ideas and examples they can apply immediately to leveraging Virtualization, helping them to maximize performance, minimize cost and improve the efficiency and flexibility of their Enterprise IT endeavors.
The theme of the 6th International Virtualization Conference & Expo, to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, on May 18-19, 2009, is 'Deploying Virtualization in the Enterprise.' The Call for Papers, which is now open, welcomes submissions from exceptional speakers with high-quality use cases not only of how virtualization maximizes the use of resources and thus saves companies money, but also of how it is fundamentally altering the way that businesses run IT in Europe and worldwide. The event is co-located with Cloud Computing Expo Europe, the third in SYS-CON's industry-leading International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo series.
SYS-CON Events announced today the latest event in its innovative series of real-world technology conferences, Government IT Conference & Expo, a two-day deep dive into the new wave of Internet-based technologies that are changing the way that Federal agencies leverage, procure and utilize IT. GovITExpo, which is being held October 5-6, 2009 in Washington, DC, builds on the success of SYS-CON's Cloud Computing Expo, the fastest-growing conference anywhere in the world devoted to the delivery of massively scalable IT as a service using Internet technologies.
SYS-CON's 2nd International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo, held on March 30-April 1, 2009, in New York City, attracted more than 40 sponsors with over 1,300 delegates, a record attendance, up from the last Cloud Computing Expo in San Jose, CA. Cloud Computing, through which massively scalable IT-related capabilities are provided as a service using Internet technologies, has many interpreters just now - and many interpretations. The next event, Cloud Computing Conference & Expo Europe will take place, May 18-19, 2009, in Prague, Czech Republic. The three content-packed days emphasized value with a rich array of sessions led by exceptional speakers about the business and technical value of cloud computing. Enjoy the photo album of the show, which is updated daily.
Overall, very exciting times, and a great event put together by the folks at SYS-CON! There was a lot of excitement and optimism throughout the event. As someone put it: cloud computing is about 700 days old. That means that there are a lot of arguments about definitions, and where things are going, and so on. And that also gives a lot of vibe and a lot of fresh community spirit.
Always sold-out Cloud Computing Bootcamp will show you how to take advantage of the cloud. Cloud computing is an opportunity for businesses to implement low-cost, low-power and high-efficiency systems to deliver scalable infrastructure. But moving to a cloud infrastructure is not necessarily as nice and clean as the providers would want you to think.
