Carol Bartz, CEO of Yahoo for all of six weeks, is reportedly going to take a crack at reorganizing place this week and get some of the yahoos out of Yahoo.
The Dow Jones All Things Digital blog, which has owned the Yahoo story for the last year, expects Ms. Bartz to undo previous reorgs set in train by her predecessor Jerry Yang and his sidekick, former Yahoo president Sue Decker, centralize more of the management in her own hands and try to streamline decision-making.
The company’s COO, CTO and new unidentified CMO may all wind up reporting to Carol and she may trash Yang’s division of Yahoo’s world into four regions and settle for two: the US and everywhere else.
The blog was alerted to the coming move by an e-mail Bartz sent out Friday to staff saying, “Get well-rested, because next week’s a biggie.”
Bartz has already delayed the rollout of a remake of the front page of Yahoo web site to make it better and has slowed the global rollout of the company’s new advertising platform for the same reason.
She’s also making a list of “products that we are embarrassed about” so they can either be fixed or canned.
The Wall Street Journal thinks product development and marketing, tasks currently scattered around the company, will be consolidated into standalone departments.
