WIRELESS TOP STORIES
The Cloud just got another potential injection of PR from Apple as well with their announcement of MobileMe. Apple has brought a new technology term, the 'Cloud' - previously reserved for developers, IT managers and the like - to the main-stream public. We all know that the term 'Cloud Computing' is relatively new to the Technology buzz. But just how new is it?
The Estonian Parliament this week approved a law making Estonia the first country in the world to allow voting in a national election by mobile phone.
In periods of economic uncertainty people turn to look at other options that enable them to continue to meet end-user and business demands for IT services.

WIRELESS BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY LATEST STORIES . . .
The Android-loving Open Handset Alliance says it's added 14 more members, bringing its total to 47 companies. Of course it’s only produced one phone so far, the iPhone's leagues ahead, and the crummy economy is expected to hurt even cell phone sales, but this is a matter of covering ...
Movero Technology and Ezwim announced a global partnership to deliver a joint mobile lifecycle management service based on the integration of their respective TTM and Maestro Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms. The joint offering enables organizations to gain visibility into and co...
The Estonian Riigikogu (Parliament) this week approved a law making Estonia the first country in the world to allow voting in a national election by mobile phone. The first "cellular election" will be Estonia's next parliamentary elections in 2011.
With our dynamic business environment and fluid business models, enterprise communications is becoming increasingly focused on mobility. The associates and managers who are key to supporting customers, resolving production problems, and addressing other critical business tasks can rare...
Cloud computing has the power to revolutionize non-information "soft" product sectors. We haven’t seen too much clear synergistic benefits between mobile apps PLUS cloud computing/SaaS yet, but I sense that we can expect to see more good things out of the intersection of these two. I...

FEATURED WHITE PAPERS
CONFERENCE NEWS & UPDATES
SYS-CON's 1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo attracted more than 40 sponsors and exhibitors with over 1,200 preregistered delegates. The three content-packed days emphasized value with a rich array of sessions led by exceptional speakers about the business and technical value of cloud computing.
Overall, very exciting times, and a great event put together by the folks at SYS-CON! There was a lot of excitement and optimism throughout the event. As someone put it: cloud computing is about 700 days old. That means that there are a lot of arguments about definitions, and where things are going, and so on. And that also gives a lot of vibe and a lot of fresh community spirit.
SYS-CON Events, producer of the 2nd International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo, to be held March 30-April 1, 2009, in New York City, announces that its Call for Papers has been attracting a record number of submissions. Topics proposed include all aspects of providing or using massively scalable IT-related capabilities as a service using Internet technologies.
"Virtualization will help our customers be more agile and efficient," noted Mike Neil at SYS-CON’s Virtualization Conference & Expo, in San Jose, CA, "and there are three areas these companies are focused on." These areas are to drive costs down, increase efficiency, and using virtualization to provide new capabilities.
From Composable Services and Facelifting SOA to Real-Time SOA Systems and SOA For Parallel Computing, this is a round-up of the many themes and topic of interest to architects, developers and managers featuring at the 14th International SOA World Conference & Expo being held November 19-21, 2008 at The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California.
"I think it was a great success" (MIchael Sheehan, GoGrid); "very exciting times, and a great event" (Dmitry Sotnikov, Quest); "Interesting stuff" (Parand Darugar, Yahoo!); "I was surprised at how crowded the sessions were" (Mike Maxey, ParaScale); "jam-packed, with standing room overflowing into the hallway" (Stuart Charlton, Elastra) - just some of the many commentaries that have begun to appear Web-wide as people post their thoughts about SYS-CON's 1st International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo, held last month in San Jose, CA.
Red Hat CTO Brian Stevens, Citrix CTO Simon Crosby, Egenera CTO Pete Manca, Allen Stewart, Group Manager, Windows Virtualization at Microsoft, and Brian Duckering, Sr. Director of Products and Alliances at Symantec were the top industry executives who joined Jeremy Geelan in the 4th Floor Reuters Studio overlooking Times Square for a special SYS-CON.TV 'Virtualization Power Panel' recorded on June 22, 2008, the day before the opening of SYS-CON's 3rd International Virtualization Conference & Expo - which was held 23-24 June 2008 in New York City.
SYS-CON Events announced today that the Virtualization on Wall Street Conference & Expo will take place on March 22-24, 2009, in New York City. The event is expected to attract over 1,000 developers, architects, IT managers, and software professionals of every stripe who will be converging in New York City to attend this comprehensive meeting on Virtualization on Wall Street.
Virtualization has quickly become a staple new concept for enterprise IT. At SYS-CON's 3rd International Virtualization Conference & Expo, held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, June 23-24, we had exceptional speakers with high-quality use cases not only of how virtualization maximizes the use of resources and thus saves companies money, but also of how it is fundamentally altering the way that businesses run IT. The two content-packed days emphasized value with a rich array of sessions about the business and technical value of virtualization.
Cloud Computing offers significant benefits over traditional solutions for deploying production systems as well as for conducting development and testing activities. Dr Thorsten von Eicken, CTO of RightScale, Inc., will be giving a session at SYS-CON's 'Cloud Computing Expo' (November 20-21, 2008) - an adjunct to the 4th International Virtualization Conference & Expo being held at The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA.
Brian Stevens, the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering of Red Hat, delivered his Virtualization Keynote 'The Future of the Virtual Enterprise' at SYS-CON's Virtualization Conference & Expo 2007 West in San Francisco. 'Virtualization is the hottest subject today,' said Stevens, an industry luminary, who is credited with having pioneered new technologies that contributed to the rise of Linux as an industry-standard operating platform.
SYS-CON Media's Virtualization Journal announced today that the polls have opened for its first annual Virtualization Readers' Choice Awards. Readers will be casting their votes until November 8, 2008. Winners and finalists will be announced at the 4th International Virtualization Conference & Expo 2008 West, November 19-21, in San Jose, CA.
