Citrix took its virtualization widgetry, repackaged it, and went into the cloud business Monday, announcing a new Citrix Cloud Center (C3) product family targeted at the would-be hosted cloud services that are chasing both consumers and enterprise data centers. C3 is supposed to be a complete set of infrastructure building blocks for hosting, managing and delivering large-scale, on-demand, cloud-based services, whether infrastructure or applications, on both Windows and Linux.

If you don't closely monitor resource consumption by each virtual machine and simply keep adding more virtual machines without doing analysis on how this will impact all four core resources, the result will be bad performance and even system downtime. South Africa has formally objected to the fast track used to get OOXML to the brink of ISO standardization. South Africa, which has given the world Mark Shuttleworth and Ubuntu, is one of the so-called 'P' members of JTC 1 - meaning it's got enough clout to delay or possibly derail ISO's standardization of Microsoft's precious OOXML file format.
