Telecom has an SOA too - the IMS
by Michael Palmeter
Although I'm something of a "Telecom guy", based on my recent experience with that industry, there are a number of similarities between the evolution of the Telecom business and the historic changes in Enterprise IT. PROJECT GRADUATIONS

cmimportexport focuses on enhancing and maintaining a utility to import and export WebLogic Portal Content Management types and content to and from XML files. John Graves is the project leader and has already checked in the 1.0 version of the utility in the Subversion repository.

The drips project, lead by Saurabh Arora and Prasen Mukherjee, allows users to instrument production systems to extract useful data for profiling, debugging and monitoring. Use this innovative tool to dynamically calculate response times of any JVM method using an aspect-oriented programming model (Aspectwerkz), which allows the user to iteratively profile any portion of a J2EE or java-based application.

jmsbridgesxa illustrates a variety of WLS JMS Bridges that transfer messages in either direction under XA control: JMS and MSMQ, JMS and MQ Series, JMS and Tuxedo (via WTC). Nigel Howard, the project leader, has a related project in CodeShare, msmqtojavaxa.
