Will Cell Phone Rates Start Rising in 2006?
According to one report the average revenue per user (ARPU) for cellular voice services in the US dropped for the second quarter in a row. Data service revenue is not making up for the ARPU drop on the voice side. How long will the wireless carriers let this go on before they consider raising rates?

Keyword searches for audio have always been hit or miss. You end up missing more than you hit, but it's been the only way. Now with wave form analysis and datamining, audio clips can be found using sonic similarity features. Music can be found by simply whistling the tune into your computer, and getting a list of melodically similar tunes. One of them might even be the one you were thinking of...

Superior Linux Technology won't be enough
Not much has changed since Microsoft started selling preload software. Today, we cannot know if people would still buy Microsoft products because the Government protects the monopoly. What percentage of the market would Microsoft have in a fair market?
The only way we can answer that last question is to stop manufacturers from preloading Windows. Until then, we do not have a free market. Microsoft has no way to prove itself otherwise.

Social, Metered, No-Cost Ad Exchange: LinkLike
Blogger? Publisher? Startup? LinkLike is a social networking web site for folks who run web sites. Its metered ad exchange service lets you trade eyeballs with your partners, boosting unique visitors. Metered means that for every user you send to their site, they must send a user to your site.

Why Lisp Still Hasn't Won
reddit received much praise from the vocal online Lisp community -- the developers built it in Lisp. However, a recent rewrite of the site in Python reveals one reason Lisp isn't more popular: social problems.
