Welcome to SG-Pilot!

The Sun Grid Pilot Project is an umbrella project to give developers who do not want to join an existing project, or start their own project, access to compute power of the Sun Grid Compute Utility.

Why?

Join this pilot program to get 100 hours of CPU time to help you jump-start your Sun Grid development project. You can use hours to work on your Sun Grid developer community project, or on a related project.

Steps to join this pilot are simple:

  • Use your existing java.net account or register for an account

  • Apply for an account on the Sun Grid at www.network.com, make sure your eligible for the use of the Sun Grid prior to completing the rest of this process.

  • Join the Sun Grid Project within the Sun Grid community As an Observer -OR-  Join an existing Sun Grid project, inititate a project, or link a related project from another java.net, Open Grid engine, or Open Solaris community.

  • Fill out the Qualification Questionnaire

Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted within 5 business days. If your application is accepted you will be granted 100 CPU-hours on the Sun Grid to be used within 90 days. You may also be contacted by Sun to provide input based on your experience. Projects will be chosen based on their contribution to the community and their suitability for the Sun Grid.

If you don't receive a response within 5 business days, contact David Folk.

Costs

Pilot program participants will receive 100 hours free for use by either individuals or by a project team. After that, additional cpu-hours may be purchased at a cost of US$1 per CPU-hour. Future offers will also be available to developers after the pilot period.
