Audioville/Audible vs. iTunes/Podcasting I’m browsing through Audioville, a British download service for
spoken-word MP3 products. There’s good stuff there, but I find myself dissing paid-for spoken-word audio, simply
because I’m behind in my podcast listening. Never mind that most podcasts are drivel, and most paid-for product is
pretty good. It is simply more fun to browse through iTunes 4.9’s podcast genre—and naturally, it’s more fun to get
stuff for free. As podcasting quickly becomes more professional (it is happening very fast), and iTunes
further establishes itself as the easiest way to collect, sites like Audioville and Audible (the latter of which also
distributes through iTunes via the iTMS) will increasingly be in trouble.
