The aim of the project is to produce a large and healthy community of J2EE developers tasked with the development of an open-source, certified J2EE server that:

• is licensed under the Apache License
• passes Sun's TCK for J2EE 1.4
• reuses the best ASF/BSD licensed code available today, with new ASF code to complete the J2EE stack.

This BOF is an opportunity for the Apache Geronimo community to gather and meet each other in person, discuss the current state of the project and the ongoing compatibility testing, ask and answer questions about using Geronimo, and brainstorm about the project roadmap and ideas for future.

Katia Aresti González has made her book on Apache Geronimo titled Estudio del servidor Geronimo y desarrollo de aplicaciones prácticas available as a free download. Written in Spanish, the book is available under the terms of the Creative Commons license. (2005-06-11)

Geronimo Tooling for Eclipse

IBM contributes tooling for Geronimo to the Eclipse Web Tools Project. There's also a good article about it here. (2005-05-06)

Geronimo in CTS Testing

The Apache Geronimo server is now in CTS (TCK) testing. This is a long process, but this is the final phase in delivering a certified J2EE 1.4 server. Stay tuned! (2005-01-01)

ASF as OSS J2EE TCK Licensee

The Apache Software Foundation becomes the first open-source J2EE(tm) TCK licensee. Taking advantage of the result of changes to the Java Community Process that allow open source implementations of Java specificaitons, the Geronimo project is now able to test and certify the codebase. Testing will begin at the appropriate time. (2003-11-18)
